Το Trainspotting καθιέρωσε τον Ντάνι Μπόιλ στο διεθνές σκηνοθετικό στερέωμα και λειτούργησε ως βατήρας εκτόξευσης για τον τότε νεανία Γιούαν ΜακΓκρέγκορ. Η ιστορία μιας παρέας από πρεζάκια του Εδιμβούργου, που γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε χωρίς προσδοκίες και όνειρα και βρήκε τις προσδοκίες και τα όνειρα στην αγκαλιά της ηρωίνης. Είκοσι χρόνια μετά, το sequel του Trainspotting βρίσκεται στα σκαριά από την TriStar Pictures.
Ο Ντάνι Μπόιλ βρίσκεται και πάλι στην καρέκλα του σκηνοθέτη, ενώ ο Τζον Χοτς αναλαμβάνει εκ νέου τη συγγραφή του σεναρίου. Ίδιο και απαράλλακτο θα μείνει και το καστ των πρωταγωνιστών, με τους Γιούαν ΜακΓκρέγκορ, Τζον Καρλάιλ, Γιουέν Μπρέμερ και Τζόνυ Λι Μίλερ να πιάνουν και πάλι δουλειά. Τα δε γυρίσματα ξεκίνησαν σήμερα, 16 Μαιου 2016, ενώ η έξοδος της ταινίας είναι προγραμματισμένη για τις 27 Ιανουάριου του 2017!
